Westwind Wizard#19 Horizontal AFT Hinge Inspection AD 89-12-08 is required every 300 HRS per the AD and every 200 HRS per Chapter Five. Please insure that your maintenance facility pays close attention to this. We have found four AFT hinge splice fittings cracked in the last six months on a wide range of serial numbers with a wide range of hours and landings. The cracks are small and we find them with a 10 power glass. We dye check them to confirm and have a NDT technician eddy current check them to confirm the dye check. The cracks appear at the AFT edge of the outboard lugs in the radius and propagate forward. They will be small so look close.
