#4 –
Oxygen Bottle Date of Manufacture
Oxygen bottles
(3HT type cylinders) must be scrapped after 24 years from date of manufacture.
Do not assume the bottle is the same age as the airplane. Some bottles were
several years old when installed by the factory. Others may have been exchanged
for older bottles at some time in the past. The only sure way to ascertain the
date of manufacture is to examine the stampings on or near the neck of the bottle.
NOTE: There is no
such thing as an "overhauled" bottle. When they are 24 years old,
they are scrap!
